What We Do
Bardo Foundation funds work that removes critical barriers in childhood cancer research and care. Our mission is to accelerate progress where it is most at risk of stalling, by focusing on projects that:
Bridge the “valley of death” between promising lab discoveries and real treatments for children
Reduce global treatment inequalities between children in high-income and low- and middle-income countries
Strengthen research enablers — including collaborative infrastructure, data sharing platforms, biobanks, and manufacturing capacity — to speed the development and delivery of pediatric oncology treatments
Improve quality of life and survivorship outcomes for children and families
All of our grants are charitable in purpose, invitation-only, and awarded to qualified organizations whose work delivers measurable public benefit.
Our Role with The Bardo Foundation
Alongside our broader mission, we provide stable, restricted operating support to The Bardo Foundation as a public charity. These grants fund the charity’s core capacity — finance, staffing, technology, governance, evaluation, and fundraising systems — enabling it to deliver programs and advocate for children and families without being limited by operational funding gaps.
Our Story
Formed in memory of Bernardo (“Bardo”), the Foundation was created to ensure that promising ideas and urgent needs in pediatric cancer are met with both stability and flexibility. Stability comes from our ongoing operating support to the public charity. Flexibility comes from our ability to invest in high-impact projects beyond any single organization’s scope.
